The McKean County Collaborative Board
Committees and Taskforces
The Collaborative Board is comprised of approximately 50 members that represent
various segments of McKean County. There are two branches of subgroups under the
auspices of the Collaborative Board:
- Committees - conduct the task oriented work of the Board
- Taskforces - address specific issues or areas of concern in more detail
Committees
Steering Committee
The Steering Committee is composed of the Officers of the Collaborative Board,
this committee guides the Board in fulfilling its purpose, prepares the agenda
for regular meetings, serves in a leadership function for other Board members,
represents the Board to state and regional representatives and to the community
at large. The group also plans the annual strategic planning meeting of the board.
Membership Committee
This committee recommends to the Collaborative Board the appointment of new
members and the slate of officers, assures that members receive appropriate
Board materials such as the handbook, and updates the membership policy.
Marketing Ad Hoc Committee
The Marketing Committee promotes Board sponsored projects and important issues
affecting children and families. The most recent tasks of the group include
updating the website.
Child Abuse Prevention As Hoc Committee
This committee meets monthly from November-April to plan activities for April’s
Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Task Forces
Big Brothers Big Sisters Task Force
This task force is charged with planning the annual Bowl for Kids and other
fundraisers, recruitment and public relations activities, and generating ideas
for program activities, goals and objectives for the Big Brother Big Sister
program.
McKean County Tobacco Coalition
Working collaboratively with partners to develop an effective message on tobacco
use prevention, the coalition provides leadership on tobacco awareness, education
and prevention, assists in the operation of comprehensive tobacco control
projects and links youth with leadership opportunities in tobacco prevention.
Prevention Teams
Working to promote positive youth development in their community. The five
district-level prevention teams generate new and innovative ideas for youth
involvement in the community and school to address youth risk factors. The
teams coordinate recruitment and marketing activities for the Strengthening
Families Program and promote substance abuse prevention education and activities.
Early Care and Education Taskforce
The ECE Taskforce promotes the value of early learning and plans for new ways
to engage the community in support of early education.
Diabetes Taskforce
This committee plans awareness events surrounding diabetes prevention and
treatment and coordiates activities with special funding when available.
