Successfully Promoted Child Abuse Awareness Month - April 2008
The members of the Collaborative Board worked together, focusing on child abuse prevention through several avenues including the newspaper, PSA's, a local radio talk show and a resource fair among others. Below are some examples of what occured.

Other Accomplishments
- Established five Family Centers in McKean County that offer early childhood and parent education as well as after-school activities.
- Sponsored the expansion of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of McKean County program.

- Completed countywide youth surveys in 1998 and 2000, and 2004.

- Completed a comprehensive dental survey, applied for federal designation as a Dental health Professional Shortage Area, and worked with Bradford Regional Medical Center to create a safety-net dental clinic.

- Sponsored an extensive community assessment and planning process around youth risk factors in McKean County in 1998, and in Otto-Eldred in 2001. Implemented several parent workshops to address needs identified in these community assessments - The Incredible Years, Preparing for the Drug Free Years, and Creating Lasting Family Connections.

- Advocated for fluoridation of the Bradford water supply.

- Sponsored car safety seat checks around McKean County.

- Developed an annual system of youth and community recognition.

- Created a resource directory of agency services and supports for families.

- Implemented "All About Family" Day resource fair - a parent and professional networking day held annually in Smethport.

- Sponsored the creation of Abstinence Education and Related Services, a compilation of prevention programs for youth ages 9-18.
