The Collaborative Board is comprised of approximately 50 members that
represent various segments of McKean County. There are two branches of subgroups under the
auspices of the Collaborative Board:
Committees
and
Taskforces
Committees conduct the task oriented work of the
Board.
Steering Committee
The Steering Committee is composed of the Officers of the
Collaborative Board, this committee guides the Board in fulfilling its purpose, prepares
the agenda for regular meetings, serves in a leadership function for other Board members,
represents the Board to state and regional representatives and to the community at large.
The group also plans the annual strategic planning meeting of the board.
Membership/Nominating Committee
This committee recommends to the Collaborative Board
the appointment of new members and the slate of officers, assures that members receive
appropriate Board materials such as the handbook, and updates the membership policy.
Bylaws/Evaluation Committee
The bylaws and evaluation committee recommends to the
Collaborative Board any changes in the bylaws and coordinates evaluation of Board activity
and sponsored projects. In the summer months, this group consolidates all of the board
level and project level evaluations into one outcome evaluation. The entire board reviews
this material during the annual strategic planning session.
Public Relations/Community
Education Committee
The Public Relations and Community Education
Committee promotes Board sponsored projects and important issues affecting children and
families. This group also plans community training and an annual recognition event. The
current tasks of the group include the annual "Hooray for Youth" recognition
event where 40 youth from McKean County are recognized for the developmental assets they
promote. The group also sponsors "All About Family" networking day for families
and agency personnel.
Parent Networking Committee
This committee serves as an informal forum for parents. The meetings
Parent Networking Luncheons are held monthly at either the Smethport or Bradford Family
Centers. Children are welcome. While there is no end to the impact of this group, their
current goals focus on increasing the awareness of car seat safety rules, encouraging the
development of a car seat loan program, and developing a directory of "things to
do" in McKean County for families with young children.
Resource Development Committee
The resource development committee advises the
Collaborative Board on financing strategies and recommends ways in which to secure funds.
The group earmarks an annual fund raising goal for each McKean County community in order
to encourage local matching funds for the grant resources that the board secures.
